FAQS

Do you offer in-person or video appointments?

At this time, all sessions are completed via telehealth through the Sessions Health Portal or secure Zoom.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance at this time but are happy to offer payment plans as needed and can provide a Super Bill to submit to insurance for you to request reimbursement.

I’m not located in California or Oregon, can I still see you for therapy?

Ali is a licensed speech language pathologist, practicing in California and Oregon. For those located outside of CA and OR, they do offer voice coaching services (however voice coaching vs voice therapy, is not covered by insurance). Additionally, the 8-week gender-affirming voice group is considered voice coaching and is therefore offered to all, including international! Unfortunately all speech, language, and cognitive linguistic services are only available to those in CA and OR.

What are your rates?

Evaluation (1 hour): $150

Therapy/Treatment Session (1 hour): $140

Post-op Vocal Rehab Session (30 mins): $70

For those where cost is a barrier or for those who prefer small group learning, we offer an 8-week gender-affirming voice group, which is sliding scale $0-$150 total. These are offered as there is interest so please reach out for upcoming sessions dates.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends! For patients with speech, language, and cognitive-linguistic concerns, we will discuss a treatment plan following evaluation. This will include the anticipated number of sessions and recommended frequency but will always be a collaborative processes, taking into account any financial or logistical barriers or preferences.

For gender-affirming voice, some folks only want/need a couple of sessions to fine-tune or get the basics down, while some folks prefer to have on-going support through their voice journey in a more long-term capacity. On average, most folks opt for 6-12 sessions.

What’s the difference between voice therapy and coaching?

Not too much! For gender-affirming voice, goals are very similar however, if you have concerns of a possible vocal injury, then voice coaching would not be appropriate and a doctor referral would be needed for treatment.
